Been neglecting my blog.

Feels like i'm sinking into depression.
Problems are coming at me from all sides.
Untangling them is so physically and mentally straining.

I'm always totally knock out by 10pm almost every night. Yet i never seem to have a night of peaceful sleep, kept waking up in the middle of the nights.
Weekends which were supposedly to be relaxing ended up stressful as well.
So many stuffs are forbidden to be let out on this blog... *sigh*

I am always so high-strung 24/7 lately, kept losing my temper.
Someone even mention to me "hey, see..you are frowning again."

Haven't been blogging for quite a while.
So much have happened.

The Genting/KL trip, Xmas gathering, and i've started work.
Slightly over a week now.

I won't say i enjoy it, the people there ain't exactly nice.
Not friendly at all. And i seriously don't like the hierarchy system.
To make it worst, nothing can quite compare to smelling poo every morning when you come to work, and straight after lunch. Still trying to stomach in all the grossness.

Yea i know, this is like the job i kept saying i wanted so badly right.
It would help so much more if the people were at least friendly. Hmmf.

Oh hell, gotta just get through with this.
Gotta get all the experience i can first.

*sigh*

If only money isn't a problem, i would sooo love to open my own online store and sell clothes. Too bad not much profit to make outta that, and there's so many of them now.

Wooot, finally successfully change over my internet from singnet to starhub.

Decided to get Starhub Freedom Package 1, whereby the cable tv, 8mbps internet, and homeline only cost a total of $59.90 per month. Sure save lots.

But the change over was a hassle. Although the cable modem was given free, i gotta scout for a new router. Initially I couldn't get the connection up, called them a couple of times before they decided to send someone down. End up the modem was faulty and they exchanged for a new one.

Dar helped me to keep a lookout for routers. Good thing there's Sitex'08 at Expo!
We went down to queue for the D-link special hot deads.
DIR655 was going at a special price of $139 instead of SRP $229~!!
Dar and me queue up for over an hour and both of us got one each. ^^

Then gotta link all 4 computers at home, and one Wii!!
Gosh, dar taught me to use the Network filtering through mac address, instead of the common keying in password kind, since those could easily be hacked in. Those who wanna connect to our network need to seek approval from us, having us personally allow their access. ^^

So yay, i've successfully switched over to starhub! =D

Went for the Singapore Biennale 2008 walk on Sunday with my girlfriends and dar.
Thoroughly enjoy the trip!
It's just a waste that we didn't bring our camera.

We covered City Hall(old supreme court), South Beach Development and Marina Bay.
It was a really really long walk!!! Completely exhausted by the end of the day.
But we did see some really interesting artsy stuff.

However aloof we may act at the beginning, we're actually really happy for you! =D Treasure it, savour it, just lock those feelings in, coz years down the road should things grow unstable, always reflect back to now. Though from what i observed from you now, you may never need to! haa!

Steph, love that book you gave me. Thank you so much! haa~! Can't wait to try out those dishes!! Really appreciate the little bits n pieces of things u always did for us. Went out with the girls and GW yesterday to celebrate our 10years of frienship, at the same time Steph announced that she finally got her long awaited promotion! Congratz girl! hee.. =D

We sorta hang out at T3, had some cakes at Secret Recipe to celebrate. Fen and I did this DISC personality test thingy that WS brought along. This personality test is actually IN USE in companies such as WS and Steph's, to judge their employees and customers/clients' personality/behaviour, so one knows how to handle them. It so accurately spell out each of our character.

It's kinda expected that i'm a high 'C' person. Just look at the number of times i have this word in my report card since primary school all the way up to polytechnic! Even my SIP supervisor wrote that. Gosh...

Under DISC, C stands for Conscientious.
Here's the definition for the high 'C' people from wiki.

"Persons with High C styles adhere to rules, regulations, and structure. They like to do quality work and do it right the first time. High C people are careful, cautious, exacting, neat, systematic, diplomatic, accurate, tactful."

haaa... I'm the only 'C' outta the 4 of us girls. The other 2 'I'(stands for Influential) people, always do all the talking and keeps the group alive. Thanks to the 2 of them, our group always have fun discussions and stuffs to do. They definitely add the 'fun' factor to the group. The 1 'S' (stands for Stable) in the group, help keeps the group sane and rooted to the ground before we fly off the roof. (^^;)

The only thing lacking in the group is the 'D' person, Dominance. However, DISC changes according to scenario, so yupz. Perhaps the 'D' in us comes out at workplace, at home, etc.

Oh, the fun part. We girls are creating a Time Capsule, due to be open in 5 years time. So exciting! haa.

Everyone, do your homework k! I'll definitely get mine done soon.
So the guardian, keep the Time Capsule safe k!

Lotsa programmes lined up, badminton, volleyball, rollerblading, bbq, mid-autumn festival gathering.

Absolutely can't wait! =D

Graduation ceremony was on 16th July at 11am.

Dar's and my family came down to Brisbane after a 3 day tour in Gold Coast. Reached school at around 9.30am to collect our academic gown. Since there was no rehearsal and stuff, everyone was fumbling around with the gown trying to figure out the correct way of wearing it.

It's a kinda weird experience having our family over in Australia after dar and i had lived alone for a year. But overall, everything went ok.

I'm back..~~ from the Whitsundays Great Barrier Reef trip~!!

It's one of the seven wonders that we just cannot miss while dar & me are in Qld. Visiting the Great Barrier Reef from Whitsundays is definitely a better choice compared to Cairns, from what our friends told us. The water is clearer, there are more islands to visit and it's less populated!

The Whitsundays are located off the sunny coast of Queensland. Fringing coral cays surround many of the 74 islands that form the largest off shore island chain on the East Coast of Australia.

Then we took the airport shuttle service which brought us to our resort.

This is where we stay. =)

We decided to stay in Airlie beach, which is the main island. It's much cheaper compared to staying at the smaller island off-shore. There are more shops and eateries around, much more convenient.

Once we've settled down, we tour around the place.

Then we booked 2 tours for the next 2 days. It's the only way getting around the off-shore islands and visiting the great barrier reef.

On the 2nd day, woke up at 6+am, to get ready for our first tour -

Our destination is the Knuckle Reef, it's located on what they call the outer reef. It's approximately 2+hr from Airlie Beach.

The 3 islands are Hook Island, Whitehaven Beach (a must-see) and Daydream Island.

Our first stop is the Hook Island.
Activities here include snokelling, semi-submerge cruise etc.

I'm soooo screwed.
I'm soooo gonna fail my paper yesterday, and if i fail my overall subject, i'm not gonna be able to attend my graduation ceremony and everyone's gonna fly all the way here for nothing!!

I'm sooo sooo mad~!!!

Had my first paper. It was crapped!
Firstly, lemme expaint the structure of the exam paper.

It's a 2 hour paper
Section A 10qns at 4marks each (40marks).
Section B 8qns at 10marks each (80marks).
Section C 2qn at 40marks each answered in essay style(80marks)
Answer all questions. !!!!
Total marks 200 within 2 hours

All my life of taking exam, this is the MOST RIDICULOUS exam structure!!!
Argh!

The 2 essay question at the back which take up half the mark of exam paper, and my worst nightmare came true.
DONO HOW TO ANSWER!!

Did all the past yr papers, always come out similar question.
OF all year, that BLARDY lecturer chose THIS YEAR TO CHANGE QUESTIONS.

OKie.. change question.. nvm
But he chose to set that 40mark question based ON 2 FREAKING SLIDES of the entire course materials!!!
WTF?!

8 more weeks... and i'll be bidding this place goodbye.

I can't say i'm that excited about going back to SG.

As much as i always complaint about this and that, i can't really say that i wanna go back. Part of me wanna stay here. It is not the place that make me wanna stay, perhaps except for the weather.

It's just that I love my freedom here.
Nobody to boss me around telling me i should do this, shouldn't do that.
I can shower for 1 hour and eat KFC 3 times a days and not answer to anybody.
I don't have to be the responsible elder sister or care for anybody else.
And most of all, I can do whatever i want over here and not think about what others might say.
I'm a nobody in a foreign land.
Basically, i get to be selfish over here.

Going back means finding a job, which i super dread.
I do not enjoy working life. It's so mundane! I can't stand it.

My previous job was a horror!
Looking back, i seriously wonder what made me stay so long.
I wasted amost 2 years of my life lock in that stupid dungeon!

Then there's the stressful working life in SG.
It's not that Aust working life has no stress, it's just that it's so different!

I went to the city last friday, it was 10.30am in the morning and those freaking office workers are having breakfast in cafe! You never see such a sight in Raffles Place at 10.30am on a weekday?!

The other day i was reading Straits Times Online.
There was this article about kids going back to school during holidays.
Yesh, that article just made me fumed.
It actually took so long for people to realise how wrong it is?!

For god's sake, if it's the holidays, let the kids have a break!
In the States, teachers won't worked during holiays except if there are paid extra!
Forcing kids to come back for tutions, remedials, giving them tons of projects etc..gosh
They will have plenty of time to work their butt off in the future, in the meantime just let them be kids and enjoy their childhood!!

One thing i absolutely can't stand about SG other than 'kiasu sg-rean rushing into MRT' is the education system. Personally, i find it too result-based, degrading (especially the streaming) and it suppresses creativity and talent of the kids.

Then there is the biase-ness towards the JCs over polys and ITEs which is causing brain-drain in SG, which i don't have to go into. It's already so obvious. Young talents are going oversea, settling somewhere else.

When i come over here, i realised just how we SG-rean lose out in so many ways. Yesh, we may be hardworking, we may be good at grades, but when it comes to presentations, speaking your mind/opinions, asking questions during lectures, challenging/questioning the lecturer at what we're being taught, interacting with people, being passionate about what we are learning, we SG-reans fail so miserably!

We don't have much presentations in school, we weren't taught to question our lecturers and often just accept what's given. We weren't passionate with what we are doing, it's all about what is "hot and earn big $$" industry promoted by the government!

WoOosH...
It's like there's sooo many things that i can go on. It's not that i don't love SG, it's just that there's soo many things that can definitely be improved.

Okie, enough ramblings, time to get back to work.

I soo soooo need a break, getting so grumpy.

I know i've not been updating.

Suffocating under the pile of assignments. Tolerance level has been rather low lately. It's the stress getting into me. So many group works too, and the conflicts and stuff. Gosh, i'm sooo noottt a group-work person.

I can't stand it when someone criticize my work, even if it's consider "constructive" criticism. I'll act all super protective and go "~!@#$!! It's MY work, MY marks, not yours. SO ~!#@#$# off~!!"

Aussies are such lazy, super-freaking last-minute people. It's amazing how they get all the way to Uni. So fed-up working with them. Super pissed off by them, what on earth are they doing in Uni anyway, I seriously doubt if they even have any brains! ArGH~!!

Easter has always passed by unnotice by majority of the non-christians in SG. However, in the western countries, it is a public holiday!

So friday is Good Friday, followed by Easter on the Sunday, tmaking monday a public holiday! Long weekend =)
It's like the next most important public holiday after X'mas.

In Aust, easter eggs and bunny toys are seen everywhere in the supermarket. There's also the widely popular Hot-cross buns!

Im so pissed~!!!

Suppose to have 8am lecture this morning.
Dar and me decided on taking the bus414 to school, since it's a straight journey. Was there damn early waiting for the bus and it was supposed to arrive at 7.36am, and before us was alot of people already waiting for it.

The bus was 10mins late, and when it arrived, it zoom past our bus-stop without stopping~!! The bus was pretty empty somemore lo. Can u believe it?
Everyobe at the bus-stop was absolutely stunned.

To make it worst, the frequency of the bus was 1 per hour!!
Arghhhh~!!!!

Blardy hell.
WHAT THE HELL WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE AND TRANSPORT SYSTEM HERE!!!!

Woke up at 6+am for lecture lo, then that bloody bus just drove off like that.

It was 7.46am then, too late to take the train.
If we take the train still have to change bus somemore, will reach school rather late by then.

After the 8am lecture, our next lecture is at 11am. So we decided to return home.

Gosh, just receive another email now, saying the lecture at 11am had changed venue.
If we weren't at home serving net right now, wouldn't even know, and would have stupidly waited at the old venue.

No, the lecturers here are not like those in SG, where they would be kind enough to paste a note at old venue, indicating the venue change. Even if they do, the ang-mos here would disturb and go tear it away or mess up the note.

Went to The Australia Zoo today with the guys.
Really sian, the journey there took us 1.5hr as the train frequency was really bad since it's a weekend. It's at 1-2hrs interval, can u believe it?!! Really hate the transport system here.

Honestly, we found the place rather disappointing.
The zoo is huge, but where're the animals???
The enclosure is huge, but 1 enclosure only house 1-2 animals. Duhz?!

Majority are Australia animals such as kangeroos, wombats, wallabies, tasmania devils and koalas. Needless to say, there were crocodiles, lotsa it too.
But lotsa animals we are familiar with were missing from the scene. There were no monkeys, deers, lions, polar bear, penguin, rhinoceros, gorillas etc etc. Asia animals only include elephant and tiger, eh?! Very little right!

The zoo was built to cater more towards the needs of the animal, with the entire zoo designed as close to their natural habitate as possible, than for tourist attraction and profit-making.

The famous live animal show in the zoo was such a huge disappointment too. It was used to convey the message of Wildlife Conservation than entertainment.
No actions at all. =(

Back from a 4D3N stay at Melbourne!

The weather there was rather extreme, from freezing cold at night to unbearable heat in the day. Forgot my sunglasses, and the blazing sun in the day was so bad i gotta squint my eyes the entire time! Makes my pictures look damn ugly! =(

Stayed at Weiloon's apartment, so lodging was free. Yeay!

Nice apartment! Open concept. The bedroom upstairs got no door or whatsoever, walk up the stairs and you will see a twin bed, wardrobe and table. haha...

Gotta wait right in the middle of the road, kinda silly isn't it. Gotta tram-hop a couple of times before reaching destination, coz the tram travels straight only, and the roads in the city are perpendicular to each other.
Oh, and buses are rare in city.

2nd day, book a tour to Philip Island.

Woke up early in the morning to tour Uni of Melbourne followed by the famous Queen Victoria Market before heading off to the Philip Island tour.

At the Nobby's Broadwalk in Philip Island. It's has makeshift walkway where you walk around this 'hill' and view wallabies, hare, penguins.

The main attraction of the tour was the penguin parade. Unfortunately, no cameras allow, coz the flashlight will blind the baby penguin's eyes. =(

Day 3, dar came down with a fever. Didn't tour around much. =(

Day 4, went to St.Kilda Beach. Famous for their cake shop!

Back in Brisbane.
Arrived at around 7am.

WS, HF and steph came to sent me off, with a farewell gift!
I love it!!

I always wanted a vodoo doll keychain. This one is a study charm somemore, i will definitely get As!! Muahaha... Should have given sooner ma, last sem le leh. LoLx
The fluffy dog, it's sooo cute and FLUFFY, love its beanie bottom. It now sits right in the middle of my desk!!
The 'WOK' is a very interesting recipe book! Real handy, love it's uniqueness and simple recipes. =D
Oh oh.. and the pooh stickers. I paste it all over my desk. Wahahaa.. Brighten the place abit.

Oooh, the zombie chew, SOUR chew, ZY will defintely finish it. ahaha...
Other than the cola, i like all the rest of flavors! Love the colouring... lol..
So tempted to have one now, but it's already 10.30pm!

Anyway...

Had my first flight with SQ, and the experience was kinda disappointing. The flight was delayed for 1/2 hour even though we were told to board 1hour earlier.

2 china students sitting in front of us took our baggage cabin after stuffing theirs full. Was kinda pissed off. Such unconsiderate people! Each of them dragged 2 bulky trolley bags on-board, makes me wonder why no-one makes them checked their baggage in. The rule clearly states 1 bag per person!

When we finally depart at 9.45pm, we were only served dinner at 11.30pm. By then, dar and me were starved!

The stewardess was nice and all, service was excellent, but the food was =( .
In-flight entertaiment was great, there was Nitendo games such as Mario and Zelda. There were also korean and cantonese movies to cater for a wider range of audiences.

As for comfort factor, the seats was =( too. It was really uncomfortable, and i kept fidgeting in my seat. There was enough leg space but the seat was just uncomfy! Both dar and i barely slpt at all throughout the 8hr flight.

To make matters worst, we waited almost 1/2hr for our luggages in brisbane! It was drizzling when we arrvied, and some luggages were wet! Luckily ours were fine.

Took the train from airport to Taringa. It was unsheltered from the stations to our apartment. No choice, gotta dragged our luaggage in the rain. Luckily mine was duffel bag. Not so bad. Our apartment was just across the street.

Finally arrived back home.
However, everything just started! Dust accumulated, there were cobwebs, dead millipede and dragonfly in the middle of the living room. There was baby lizard behind the bed. Makes me wonder how they get in, the windows here are all 'net' to prevent insects from entering! There must be some loop-holes somewhere. The balcony was scattered with leaves, and soil and whatever. If that isn't bad enough, we opened the letterbox to discover an ant-nest right inside.

That was IT.
We started cleaning. Vacuum, change the bedsheets, wash the toilet, clear out the balcony and unpacked. By then it was lunch time. Went out for lunch, had kebab and it was grocery shopping time. Gotta buy rice, and it's 5kg, on top of our grocery. =.=

Oh, and no, the drizzle hasn't stopped since we arrived at 7am.
So gotta dragged grocery back in the rain again.

Was beat by the time we arrived home.
Changed and dropped dead on bed.

Cooked spagetti for dinner, and now we finally had some free time.

Looks like the rain wouldn't stop for quite a while.

It's amazing how time flies.
I feel as if i've just return from Aust, and now i'm flying back again.

Having mix feelings about going back.
As much as i craved for my privacy and freedom in Aust, i'm soo gonna miss the warmth of having my love ones around. It really gets kinda lonely over there at times.

It's gonna be another mad rush when semester starts.
Half my friends have graduated, and majority will be doing their honours.
That leaves only me and dar. *sigh*

Oh well, think happy thoughts~

CNY was fun!
Though i seriously lack of sleep from rushing to and fro my 2 granny's house over 3 days. Both sides wanted us to be around during the first 3 days.
Then Sam and the girls came over this afternoon and had rounds of mahjong and card games.

I must say, i really out-done myself this CNY, able to complete all my CNY preparations, visitings, gatherings and getting ready all-packed and stuff to leave for Aust.

It's just that i'm really lacked of sleep, and real tired. I sleep less than 5 hours every night since CNY, so i'm not exactly at my best.

So many things need to be done when i reach Aust. *sigh*

Need to go grocery shopping, clean up the house, get ready to fly off to Melbourne, bring my poly friends who just arrive around...

and the list goes on...

Anyway, finally got my shoes from C&K, love it to bits. My sisters got theirs too, real pretty ones. It's a good thing our sizes are all similar, so can share. Muahaha...

Just woke up. Slpt like 14hrs straight after the chalet and i'm still yawning now~!
Didn't realise i was so tired till i rest on the bed for a while and was immediately knocked out.

Chalet and Aloha Changi was ok, but i did feel the very 'unwelcoming' atmosphere when i stepped into the chalet. Not sure about others, but i definitely felt it. But it gets better as more people started arriving.

It was quite a rowdy chalet, all the beer and vodka people down one after another. They even got red wine. Since i've got alcohol allergy, i was the only one who was in the right state of mind.

Learnt to play quite a few games during chalet. MuAhaha...

Went to harbourtown to shop today. Personally, i find DFO nicer to shop, though majority will disgree. Though i spend the same amount at both places, got more stuff outta DFO though. hmmm...

Went to Surfers Paradise after that, didn't get anything there. Quite a rowdy place. Visited the beach, walk around for a while then headed home. Nothing much to do if you're not there for the beach.

Still so many souvenir to get, which is stressing me out. Aussie ain't like Taiwan or Thailand which u can shop and hurl big bags home. The style, the size, the price etc make it so difficult to shop.

It sucks when everyone expect something great from you just because u are oversea.
I'm not even here for holiday!! I'm a student now with absolute no income!
Still gotta pay back every cent i spend next time.

My long overdue post of Byron Bay in New South Wales!

Woke up at 5+am to catch the train to Roma Street, where we board a bus and ride for 3hrs to Byron Bay. =D

Just came back from Byron Bay in New South Wales...

FINALLY!!!
Hell of a week it had been, rushing to hand in 3 major assignments. 1 due yesterday and 2 today. Was up till 3am yesterday trying to "perfecr" it. Zzzz....

Woke up feeling groggy, rush to school to submit the assignments, then got dragged by my friends to Dreamworld in Gold Coast. Crazy crazy day! haa..

It was a 1.5hr train ride all the way down south.

Dreamworld is back by Nickelodeon, and is said to be bigger and has more thrill rides as compare to MoveiWorld by Warnerbrothers. Both are a definite must-go place in Gold Coast. The entrance fee is freaking expensive, $62 per person. Despite being a tourist attraction, majority of the visitors are the Aussies themselve. You don't see Sgrean supporting Sentosa that way.. ha!

Personally, i find the theme park so-so only. Everland in Korea was definitely so much more better than this. There just wasn't anything special about the theme-park, perhaps except for their thrill rides. Don't know why, i don't really enjoy thrill rides anymore. Furthermore, all the queues are really long!!

Ended up taking more pictures instead.

Haven't been blogging.
There're nothing much happening here, and I've been rushing reports.

There're 3 due next week and i've not even started yet. *sigh*
I'm soo sooo dead.

Seriously, it's so different from poly life. The number of individual reports u have to write, learning to use referencing programs along with your report, learning to assess journal databases and sorting out the junks, meeting the number of reference with mixture of books, journals etc. Most importantly, passing the plagerism meter test when we upload our reports online.

Then there's extra worries like checking the report twice and thrice to make sure grammar and sentence structures looks ok, no passive voice or whatever crap, to prevent those ang mos from marking down on my english.

I even learn how to write scientific critics, critising other people's research. Then there's the opinion editorials on other people's studies, giving my opinion to general public what i thought of the latest research that's recently published.

Going nuts with all this craps.

Looking at the standard of scientific reports i'm writing now compare to my major project report back in poly days, my lecturer must have really been compromise to give me a B+.

Ok, enough complaints.

Went for a field trip from my parasitology class today to the Australian Army Institute of Malaria Research.

It's located in the Army Barracks.
The trip was ok... nothing significant.

The Aust. camo uniform looks kinda funny.

Had my first Molecular and Applied Parasitology lab today!!!

Today's lab was about testing different insecticide to kill them, intercepting with their life cycles, and extracting their DNA.

Deal with so many hair lice today, can only pray that no one lost their little 'pet'.

Last thing you wanna do is to bring one home. ha!

Just got back home 1/2 hour ago.

Went to watch The Simpsons movie at SouthBank with a group of friends.
SouthBank is located opposite the Brisbane City. Need to cross over Victoria Bridge to get there. Kinda like crossing from Singapore mainland to Sentosa. haha..

The movie was really nice.
Love it love it love it!!
Go catch it people!!

Oh ya, i had char kway tiao for dinner today!! Dar had 'sin chow fried rice'. This shop we went to is set up by a malaysian family. Their food was ok, better than the 'singapore-lah' shop we ate previously!

We went to Pancake House for supper. Really like the atmosphere there. From the interior structure of the place, one can tell that it was previously a church. Anyway, their waffles, pancakes and nachos are really yummy! They even have marshmallow-float cocoa drink. *slurps*

We made our way home from city at around 11+pm.
Since it's already late, and being a friday night somemore, there were lotsa drunkards scattered around. Large group of girls and guys shrieking and shouting everywhere. Really not a place to walk alone.

It's the 2nd day of school.
Having my 4hr break now, kinda sucky. Hate long breaks. So dar and me came home, after all, it only takes 20minutes.

My timetable is really horrible on monday and tuesday, incredibly long day.
3 times a week, my lesson starts at 8am. >.<

Oh well...
Anyway, the lectures here are soooo different from polys. Can never survive on notes alone... sure dieee.

Still trying to catch up, especially with my microbiology subjects.
So many memorising work to be done, and trying to spell words that i can barely pronounce...

Dar and me went to Chinatown in Brisbane City today.
It's rather disappointing, quite a dead town. Only 2 supermarkets that sells really chinese stuff.

Dar had Hainanese Chicken Rice, i had Curry Laksa.

It cost an average of AUD$8 per meal.
That's the standard pricing for all meals in Aussie anyway.

I'm back~!!

Went to school for orientation week. Nothing much.
No campus tour, no camp whatsoever. It's just a 1hr welcome to UQ speech, how to get started etc.

Oh well, yesterday, i went to watch Harry Potter. Every tuesday, at a particular cinema, it's only AUD$5 for a show. Only applies to students of course. It's even cheaper than Singapore. =D

The movie is so-so. Nothing fascinating, no idea why critics give it a B+.

This is the slope opposite my apartment, that i have to walk everyday to get to the train station. It's a 45degree slope, probably can't tell from the pic though.
The roads around here are all like that, up-slope and down. It gets easier everyday, really!!

Australia has really pretty birds all around. We saw lotsa bush turkeys, wood ducks, geese, magpies, parrots etc, just wandering around like that~!!

I've got so much to blog about. Wanna upload pictures but it will eat up lots of my precious internet bytes. =(

The sky here gets dark by 5pm, and dar & me really don't dare venture out at night. Heard enough stories to be smart enough to stay in.
Got friends experiencing drunkens going up to their faces, grab them and scream vulgarities right in their face. Got friends gotten bash up in back alleys.

Oh ya, the public transport system is really ridiculous around here.
During weekends, train and bus arrive only every 1/2 hr.
On weekdays, it arrives approx. every 20mins.
So it's either u arrive super early or super late at your destination. =.="

Dar bought the weekend newspaper for AUD2.20. The Saturday morning newspaper applies for both Saturday and Sunday. They actually wrote in advance for weekend. Ha!
Anyway, the newspapers here are all gossipy news.
Everyday there's news of murders, rapist, lotsa gossip. Blah~

For the Aust TV show, we have 6 channels, while our friends living near school have only 3. There's lotsa boring soap opra and LOTSA news. The same news keep repeating for 2-3 days. The stupidest thing is, all news are at the same timing for all channels. They can also have official news at this timing, gossip news straight after the official one ends.

Alright, enough of complaints.

Pei'e brought dar and me to Westend market today~!!
We took a train to the next stop, change to bus, then to ferry, then to bus again. I know it sounds like a long journey, but in actual fact, the journey is only 1hr, if u catch all transport on time. The entire journey is included in my monthly concession. Yay~!!

Westend market opens every Saturday morning, and it's like a big pasam malan. Lotsa chinese stalls also. =) Then we went to a vienamtese butcher stall, they sell "zhu gan~"!!!! I bought some pork, a whole chicken to chop myself. So much cheaper to buy 1 whole chicken to chop myself.

Oooh, and i found sambal chilli and balachan chilli too!!!

Airport farewell.

2nd day is Brisbane today~!!

Everything goes pretty smoothly at the airport. The food on Quantas really sux though.

First day, UQ pick-up service fetch us to our apartment at Taringa. They were still cleaning the apartment when we checked in. The floor carpet was still wet, bed were unmade.. a mess. So we left our luaggage, then went to our 'nearest' mall, Indooroopilly Mall.

We walk almost 1.5km to get there.. haha.. Very far, and the roads here are just crazy!! Very few predestrain crossing, super fast traffic, pavement walk halfway can suddenly merge with road, then leave u standing at road. WTH? Traffic light man turns green, mus brisk walk, coz it turns red in a few sec. Hate the traffic here.

The weather here is ok, it's only when the wind blow that it's cold. Otherwise, people are wearing shorts, skirts etc!!

First thing we did, activate bank account, bought phone card, went grocery shopping.
We also bought a printer, wok and kettle. The kettle here are all rusty, dare not use it. Thankfully, our friend Pei-e brought us around the mall, told us what to look out for during grocery shopping.

Apple cost AUD $4+ - 5+ for 5~!! Everything is so freaking expensive.

We bought so many things, had to take a cab back to apartment. Approx 1.5km, AUD$11.

Day 2, went to school. Took the train and bus by ourselves. The train station is just down the slope from my apartment, less than 5 min walk! That's when we learn, the mall is just one train stop away. The distance between 2 bus-stop is very far also. A few kilometres apart.

The trip to school is approx. 20min by train and bus (if we didnt miss). We did our student card, and Pei-e brought us around again. This time round, we went to another mall to do more grocery shopping, Toowong Mall. 1 stop away by train too!!

Cook our first asian meal this eveing. Curry chicken.

Had a dinner gathering with my poly pals.
It's been so long since we last met up!! They are a very fun bunch, non-stop laughter throughout the entire dinner.

We had our dinner at a korean resturant, Su Resturant, at Far East Plaza.
Very nice food they have!

Went for a gathering with my girlfriends, and they brought me to this Tao's resturant for dinner.
It's a 7-course dinner, very yummy food, very good service. It's quite affordable too, with dinner causing about $28.80++ per person. I simply love their flower-fruit combo tea and yam ice-cream!
Definitetly a must-go for everyone. 2 thumbs-up!!

After dinner, we proceed to Partyworld KTV in Orchard. Sang all the way to 4am. Ooh, Partyworld drinks are sooo much nicer compare to Kbox...the mikes, screen and prices are better and more affordable too~
The downside though, is that the rooms reeks of cigeratte smell, hai!!

We wandered around Orchard at 4am in the morning, then took a NightRider to Wei Sze's place. Reached at around 5am, then we pop in McDonalds for breakfast.

Yes, at 5am in the morning, i was having breakfast at Mac. ^^
They start serving breakfast at 4.30am.
We are their first customer of the day! I think~

By then, i was beginning to feel kinda blurish. Been awake for over 24 hours, i can't think straight! Waited until 6am, and i was never happier to see SBS buses on the move.

Finally reached home at around 7am, looking like a zombie.
Met my sister downstair, who was on her way to school, looking fresh and all, just starting her day.

Feel the urge to blog.
Yet i don't know what to say.

Leaving for Aust in less than a month now... reality is starting to sink in, and i'm getting cold feet just by the thought it.

My friends envy me, thinking of it as a great escapade. But things are most definitely not as simple as it looks! There's so many "what-ifs"!

I've never liked the unexpected, avoided the unknowns.

Baah...

1 year, it seems short.
But still intimidating nonetheless, gonna be a very crucial 1 year.

1) Gotta pass everything, die-die also must pass!!!
2) Crucial year with dar, it will either strenghten or break the relationship, haa.
3) NOT to put on weight. COOK HEALTHY, EAT HEALTHY. No money for doctors and medications!
4) Budget, budget, budget!!!
5) Keep myself sane and alive above it all

Talk about mounting pressure... oommff.....

What a busy busy week.

Monday:
Dar and me got went to make our Student Visa, did our Visa healthcheck, book our flight tickets. All that in one day.

Wednesday:
Finally got a chance to go to Wild Wild Wet. Went with my little cousins and relatives.
It's really really fun. Really must go again someday!
After an entire morning of that, it was followed up by Escape Theme Park.
Haven't played like that for ages.
Gosh, got really bad sunburnt the next day.

Thursday:
Oh ya, i got my notebook PC! Went with dar to PC show on the first day, and we manage to get our hands on a pretty good notebook PC. It was all snatch up by the end of the day! It's the latest LG R405-S model. It's not cheap, but comparing the specs, it's really more worthy than the rest. It comes with 2 years international warranty too. ^^

Friday:
I chop off my hair!!
Well it's not really that short, still able to tie a ponytail. I had a soft rebonding, even mum insist. She's the one that convince me to do it. =x
I don't regret it, so much easier to manage with straight hair now. =D

And YES, dar and me manage to secure a unit at Taringa Apartment. Yay!!
Yet to make the payment though.
Stupid Aussie dollar exchange rate is freaking high now. *sigh*

Saturday:
My granny's birthday!!
Haven't been over to her house since CNY. The buffet spread cost over $1k in all. Gosh, what a spread.

Went over to dar's house and we "season" our notebook.

Got a few things to buy:

I've handed in my resignation letter last week.

1 month+ till my last day.

As much as i hate to admit....
Despite all those cursing and swearing, i kind of enjoy my work sometimes.

Aseptic techniques, making chemotherapy drug, IV solutions, checking patient's order, and the cheap thrill i get outta catching my pharmacists' mistakes.

This first job will be a huge stepping stone to my future career in pharmaceuticals.

I've had the chance to work in a MNC.
I've trained to be sharp, fast and accurate in checking prescriptions.
I've been trained and validated in aseptic techniques, an opportunity that not every pharmacy technician has.

For all these, I'm truly grateful.

Never thought that i'll get all emo and not bear to leave.
The 'me' one year ago would have been popping champagnes already.

I've been ask many times, why did i want to go oversea to study?

Lotsa ppl think, "must be coz zhiyong going, that's why she wants to go lor."

Most of the time, i choose not to answer, knowing they've already think that way, what's there for me to say anyway.

Ever since i started working, and heard my first batch of friends going over to UQ and getting a degree in 1 year, i've already thought about it.

I still remember the first time i brought up the subject, got shot down straight away.

"50k? u think so easy to earn ah. Spend money go buy degree, come back only a few hundred dollor more. Waste money only. Last time can go JC don't want go, want go poly. Now pay little, u wan go buy degree. I don't have so much money ah."

After that incident, i never brought up the subject again.
I don't have the financial ability, i'm not that independent to travel and study there alone.

Until now, dar brought up the subject again.
We need a degree.
He knows it, i know it.

So he give me the push i needed to get me going again.
We've got each other's back.

After lotsa explaining, people's backing.
I've got the deal.

Yesh, i'm going partly coz dar's going.
I'm not that independent.
I need the company.

But i know i need a degree too.

I don't want to be stuck with that miserable pay.
I don't want to be just that 'xiao mei' from poly.
I want to have more options, more opportunities.
I want the chance to move out of my comfort zone.

I NEED the degree.

Knowing that i never like violent movie, Dar sorta tricked me into watching the movie "300" with him. But i can't blame him for this one.

It is an intense action-packed movie, top off with great sound and visual effect. Lotsa blood, flying limbs etc though.

The movie brought us back into the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas, and 300 Spartans take on around 300,000 Persians and slaves to King Xerces. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy.

Defintely a must-watch movie!

I'll give it 4 popcorns outta 5!

My company's headquarter just moved to Gateway building about a week back.

Today's the grand opening ceremony, and for once, everyone in the lab has to go back headquarters to attend. We are so isolated from our headquarters, that even the boss don't really know anyone in the headquarters too, other than a few important people. We are all practically meeting each otehr for the first time!

The new office in Gateway is soooo nice! Situated at 30th floor Gateway building, it over-look marina bay, padang, CBD area etc. The DHL hot-air balloon is right in front loh! Furthermore, there's LCD TV in the HUGE pantry, OSIM massage chair etc.

To think that we are so isolated in our lab+office, facing 4 walls and never see sunlight everyday... so unfair!!

I was soooo angry with dardar yesterday.

Been asking him to get his CNY clothes early for weeks. But he kept procastinating, till the very last minute.
Don't understand guys, have to nag at them to shop. =.="

So yesterday, finally when he can't procastinate anymore. Dragged him to buy clothes. We went from Far East, to Shaw, to Wisma, to Taka. Topman, Zara Man, Ffox blah blah. Found nothing. It's either too plain, material too thick, long sleeves too hot or not worth the $$.

Okie.. nvm..
Then we went to Bugis street, village, the Edge. Horribly crowded, with tons of GuYs doing last minute shopping! Gosh. This time, it's either too "beng-ish" or too common or they jack-up price too much.

Still never found anything in the end lor!
I was so tired, and grumpy.

See lah, last minute shopping always result in nothing.

Went to catch the sneak preview of DeathNote 2: The Last Name today.

Maybe if i haven't caught DeathNote anime, i would have been less critical of it. But DeathNote 2 leaves behind a lot of loopholes in the movie. Some stuff not properly explained. Too much to squeeze into this 2hr+ movie, that lots of things were left out.

Gotta go catch the anime for lotsa explanation. But i gotta say, the guy acting as "L" is real good. Ha! 2 thumbs up for him.

It's X'mas eve tml, long weekend! I really needed this break.

Cough up some money to watch Eragon yesterday. Just gotta watch it, it's like a combination of LOTR and Harry Potter! However, it still isn't as good as either of them. Fighting scene was abit of a let-down though.

Oh ya, recently got hooked to another MMORPG. ----> TricksterOnline
This game is soooo like RO!! Ok... maybe the graphic isn't as good, but what to do, it's FREE.

My sisters, dar and me are hooked to it every night. It's fun, especially when playing in a group, with each of us taking up a different class to support each other.

Another thing i got hook on, Risk, that boardgame. Abit slow, i know. 21 year old then learn to play Risk. ha! It was introduced to me by my friends. We've been having sleepovers just to play the game. Crazy right... haa.

I'm soooo tempted to get myself one. I heard there's LOTR version somemore!! But can't seem to find it anywhere. =(

Dardar got a new phone yesterday!!

Went with him after work to get it.
It's Sony Ericsson K800i, 3G phone. Wooot!
He got the latest colour, bronze. Nicer than the original black one. =D

I use my phone T630 to trade in, and dar give me his original K700i.

Now we both got new phone. ha!

1 more week to leaving everything behind, pack and jet off to Korea and Jeju Island with dardar!!

This is going to be our 3rd trip together, and also the most costly one!! Dar and me are going alone this time round.

Feeling a bunch of mix-up feelings. Excited yet hesitant, optimistic yet apphrehensive, blissful yet skeptical.

Anyway, dar and me went for the tour group briefing yesterday.
Outta a group of 16 of us, 12 came from the same family! That leaves only dar & me, and another couple as outsider. If that's not bad enough, this family mainly makes up of people above their 50s.

Our only comfort is that, they are pretty friendly bah.

Okie dokie now, checklist for the trip.
